Ofcom’s online nations 2022: explained

Ofcom’s Online Nations 2022 found:

What do these stats mean for digital advertising?

  • We now know meta owned apps are the most visited. If your brand is lacking a presence on Instagram or Facebook,  consider increasing that.

  • We now know a good portion of 13 and ups see benefits of being online- if you need to a target a younger audience, online is where you’ll find them.

  • Video games: To break this down, our Digital department gathered all the numbers.

As you can see- there is potential in the gaming audience here, in gamers and those who watch gamers and games. And these aren’t just limited to the big Fifas’ or Skyrim’s- it’s people who play online solitaire or candy crush. Think big or small with it, either way- this is a lucrative audience.

  • And there is always the trick of turning a negative into a positive. If a brand you’re running a campaign for, or if your brand is relevant in uplifting women’s voices, use your campaign to make them feel heard! The same with the statistics about harm and scams.

The digital world is complex, but by being contextual, making your audience feel seen/heard, it means your campaigns and brands will cut through the noise.
